Do you have any good (yet healthy) recipes for brown rice?

Flipkart.com

Question by ~*Bella*~: Do you have any good (yet healthy) recipes for brown rice?
I’m making “chicken over rice” and I’m looking for a tasty recipe for brown rice. I don’t want it to be bland but at the same time I want to keep it healthy, so I don’t want to add a lot of creams or butter. Maybe cook it with some sort of broth and spices or something…also, I remember a few years back I had chicken over rice and the rice had some sort of “nutty ” bits in it.

Do you have any good recipes that you’d like to share? =)

Answer by D2B
Brown rice has its own flavour anyway so I would cook it like boiled rice or finely chop a white onion and a garlic and fry in a little olive oil until soft, then add washed rice and mix well, then add some boiling water to hot stock, cover and cook for 15 minutes until done.

Q&A: Do you have any good healthy recipes?

Question by <3 MuNcHy <3: Do you have any good healthy recipes?
My husband prefers home cooked meals and I prefer to cook them. I want to find some new recipes that he would enjoy to try. He loves steak, chicken, and pork and he some-what likes shrimp but will eat no fish at all. What are some recipes we can cook at home that are healthy and very delicious?

Best answer:

Answer by Swampy IV
Chicken Fried Squirrel
Our thanks to Bryon Portz for sending in this recipe.

~ quartered and cleaned squirrels, 1 per person
~ buttermilk
~ OldBay seasoning
~ flour
~ salt & pepper
~ shortening

Soak your meat for at least an hour in buttermilk.

Combine the flour & OldBay until you can see the flour turn light pink. Sprinkle in some salt and pepper to taste.

Heat up your shortening to 375 degrees in a iron skillet or deep fryer deep enough to cover the meat.

Roll or shake your meat in the flour mix and fry until the coating is golden brown.

Take it out and place it on a rack to drain. Place it in your oven for about 1/2 hour at 275 degrees.

Serve and Enjoy!

Confused about calories on Shaun T Insanity?

Question by KDee: Confused about calories on Shaun T Insanity?
I am supposed to eat 1967 calories a day with 500 calories deducted from exercise daily. When I do the workouts, I only burn 300-400 calories and being that I am 5’5 and 142 pounds. So, should I be eating less since my average calorie loss is between 300-400 or eat the 1967 calories worth. I am confused. I just want to tone up and lose some extra fat. Will only 1967 with 300-400 still help me lose weight or just maintain.

Healthy recipes for finicky family?

Question by The Only: Healthy recipes for finicky family?
Help. My husband and two kids are the pickiest eaters ALIVE. I thought I was finicky, but these 3 top the charts. And feeding them is making ME fat. I can’t eat the way that they do, but we can’t afford to cook a different meal for everyone. I need some healthy recipes that I can actually talk them into eating. I love vegetables, but my husband HATES them. He only eats corn. None of them will eat mushrooms, peppers, tomato, onion, or broccoli. We don’t eat pork, but beef and chicken are alright. I like turkey, but my husband will only eat it on Thanksgiving. He hates roast beef, by the way. I can NOT eat anymore pasta or mashed potatoes. Any tips?
lol to the first response.

Best answer:

Answer by Tom R.
1. Slap your husband, slap kid one, slap kid two.
2. Go into the kitchen, and cook what YOU want to eat.
3. Let the satisfaction of a delicious meal drown out the hungry whining of your progeny.

Healthy seasonings for grilling chicken?

Question by NA: Healthy seasonings for grilling chicken?
I’m 21 years old and just bought a condo with my boyfriend. I’m not the best cook ever – but I’m learning.

I’m also trying to cook healthy, as I am pretty over weight (more than 50lbs)… I just joined weight watchers, and so far so good.

While there are a lot of “Low-points” marinades to use for grilled chicken… they’re not always totally healthy..

My whole life i’ve eaten a TUN of added sugars and salts on food. I mean, an extream amount of extra salt. I dont have any medical problems reguarding my over-use of salt (or sugar)..but i dont want to GET any medical problems….. and I know that my terrible over-use of salt is probably preventing me from losing the weight that I’m trying so hard to loose…

Tonight I made grilled chicken for the first time. Boneless skinless 98% fat free, thin cut – perdue chicken.
I rubbed a TINEY bit of olive oil on the chicken, and then sprinkled Mrs. Dash – for chicken – on it.

It was yummy, but it was pretty plane-jane. There wasnt a whole lot of flavor. It would’ve been great in a salad or something…

I also cook for my boyfriend, so while I can tolorate the lack-of-flavor for my health – i cant imagine hes going to be too happy with flavorless dinners every night (he’d never complain, hes not the type..but I dont want to do that to him..)..

I have some extra chicken in the freezer that I want to cook for wednesday night…and I’d like it to be a little more flavorful…WITHOUT adding salt.
BBQ sauce doesnt have many WW points, but I think its got a good amount of sugar…

I like lemon flavors on chicken…
Any suggestions for like lemoney tasting grilled chicken??
Or any healthy ways to season it before it goes on the grill?
The Mrs. Dash I bought has no salt in it…it says it all over the container “No Salt”…
I didnt even realize that any Mrs. Dash had salt…as it advertises so much for being a healthier salt-free option

Answer by Tyler
There’s a ton of different herbs and spices that you could use that have no sugar or salt. Just look in the spices/seasoning section of your grocery store.

Question by Ballet Stevenson: I want to cook a healthy dinner for my sisters and mom? Any healthy and easy recipes?
I feel bad my mom comes home and makes all the dinner for us after being tired. I’m not really the best cook.. I was going to make hamburger helper because my little sister really wants it, but I know that’s really unhealthy and processed.

Any healthy recipes that aren’t too hard to make??

Best answer:

Answer by Michelle
My boyfriend usually makes salmon/chicken w/spice if we wanna eat something healthy. Natural spices or whatever. It’s also tasty, not to mention cheap. ;D
